Trauma-Informed Counselling & EMDR Therapy
Traumatic or distressing experiences can sometimes leave the nervous system feeling stuck in patterns of fear, overwhelm, anxiety, hypervigilance, emotional shutdown, or panic.
Even when experiences happened long ago, the body and brain may still react as though the danger is present.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy designed to help the brain process and heal distressing memories in a safe and supported way.
EMDR May Help With:
-
Trauma
-
Anxiety
-
Childhood experiences
-
Emotional overwhelm
-
Dental trauma
-
Grief and loss
-
Distressing memories or images
-
Negative beliefs about self
What Is EMDR?
Sometimes distressing memories become “stuck” in the brain and nervous system. EMDR helps the brain reconnect and process those experiences so they feel less emotionally overwhelming over time.
During EMDR, bilateral stimulation (eye movements or tapping) is used to support the brain’s natural processing abilities while you remain fully awake, aware, and in control.
EMDR is paced carefully, and tailored to your comfort level.
Trauma therapy is never about forcing or reliving experiences. Building emotional safety, coping tools, grounding skills, and nervous system regulation are important parts of the process.
Sessions are approached with warmth, collaboration, and respect for your pace and readiness.
