Pet Loss and Grief
Breaking the stigma
I know what it feels like, maybe not exactly how you feel, but I understand the pain and the void your pet has left behind. And no, it’s not weird to mourn your pet; it is a painful experience! We live in a world where grieving your pet is stigmatized. What I offer is pet loss and grief support and interactive sessions to walk you through the grieving process. Processing guilt, anger or deep sadness after loss of a pet is an essential part of your healing journey. It is a rollercoaster of emotions, learning how to live with just the beautiful memories.
Depression and Anxiety
Stuck in a dark place?
Everyone feels low or sad every now and then. Most of these feelings are usually shortlived. Sadness is an emotion that can be difficult to deal with. Depression, however, can be a result of many causes, including loss or anger. Depression and anxiety become an issue when they start to hinder aspects of your daily life. Depression can be experienced in different ways.
Helplessness - Feeling overwhelmed - Influence relationships - Emotional and sometimes physical pain - Lost of interest or pleasure in certain activities Feeling worthless - Transition
Bereavement & Transition
Lost a loved one?
We will all experience the loss of a loved one at some point in our life. Believe me, when I say you don’t get used to it! Living without your loved ones is very hard, and it’ so easy to forget that life can still be beautiful. Grief can also entail a major change your personal life; retirement, new culture, etc. No two people experience and process grief the same way, just as no two people can heal from a loss simultaneously. We may never overcome our grief as we move forward and try to adjust to major changes. Talking to a professional can help you free yourselves from the intense pain.
Emotional Trauma
Words will never hurt me…
Like scar tissue, these wounds can scar over, and get real thick. It’s not flexible and may experience numbness, or a lack of feeling. You can stay stuck in your emotional trauma and sometimes it can shut you down. Whatever trauma or traumatic event you have experienced, you may have unconsciously adopted a coping mechanism… Not because you had a choice but simply to survive. You may feel disconnected while your thoughts or values were suppressed. Unconsciously you might have found some coping strategies that may or may not work for you. Searching for your voice, you may now be even loaded with ammunition that can release when triggered. You did not have had a choice in this, but now you do. Find out how I can help.
Adding a member to the pack
Are you ready?
Too often we are carried away by our emotions when browsing for a dog. It’s easy to make an emotional decision open up our heart and warm up our hands to sign that adoption contract. But are you really ready to adopt? Are you a dog lover or a dog dreamer? Too often I encounter lovely families that have just adopted an adorable pup. Unfortunately I am flabbergasted with the little amount of advice they were given to make the adoption a success. My involvement with rescue dogs has given me knowledge to help you find out if you are ready for this fun, lovely ‘toddler’ with a mind of it’s own
Animal-assisted therapy (Dogs)
How about a personal therapy dog?
While my focus is on your mental well-being, I have noticed that many of us are dog owners. So why not taking advantage of something that can be a huge benefit and that you already have...your dog.
Dogs and humans have lived together for thousands of years. Research is showing that, when managed appropriately, this human and dog relationship can be extremely beneficial for our well-being.
